I love old stories, and there is no better source than the local newspapers. The intention is to write a potted history of every building that existed within the Coventry city walls. The idea is that the Coventry Rebuilt Time Machine will have a pop-up with a QR code for each building. The QR code will link to this website, allowing you to delve deep into its history. This means instead of a paper archive, the story is attached to a 3D recreation of the building.
I’ve been moved by many hidden stories, such as that of the owner of the City Hotel coaching house, who had a rivalry with other coaching houses. Sadly, he lost his trade when the railway came to Coventry. A few years later, he took his own life, but in very suspicious circumstances.
